ABOUT HANNAH
Horticulturalist and Plant Designer.
My love of the plant kingdom grew steadily out of a backyard past time of growing my own food in my early twenties. This practise of growing to eat gradually opened me up to the endlessly fascinating and curious world of plant and soil science and the wondrous, multifaceted and mysterious qualities of plants. This journey was later formalised with my studies in horticulture, permaculture and landscape design. The learning continues to unfold and is joyfully never-ending.
My design work echoes my love of natural landscapes - creating spaces that are naturalistic, informal and that celebrate the aesthetic, healing and restorative qualities of plants. I am guided by my ethos of walking lightly on this earth and I garden with ecological care and consideration.
Plant Kin studio is located at my home, Black Barn Farm - 20 acres of forest and farm near the rugged and wild coastline of Mākara, on the rural margins of Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
I would love to chat anytime about your gardening needs and ideas and how Plant Kin may be able to assist.
